Day 1

Just to inform you of my groceary list for the week:
Rotisserie Chicken $6
Rice $1.50
Cereal (Captain Crunch) $3
Yoguraut  (6-pack) $4
Milk (.5 galon) $2.50
Grapes $3.50
Water $FREE
Total = $20.50

At first glance, this list looks depressing but it's really not that bad (at least as of 1:16pm on day one)!  So far, I'm discovering that this experiment is helping to save me time and money. I wake up at my normal time and fix my breakfast and lunch. I pack a serving of cereal and milk for breakfast along with my pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and rice for lunch. For my morning snack, I enjoyed a container of yogurt and for my afternoon snake I'll nibble on a few grapes. Notice no chocolate or Mike & Ike candies, which I truly enjoy. Needless to say they did not fit into my budget :(.
When you are living off a budget, it is important that you eat as healthy as possible. That's why I have my chicken, dairy products, and water (which is FREE). Although whole grain products would be better, they are a little more pricey. To fill the urge of me wanting something sweet or something to snack on, it's my goal to drink water. We shall see how this goes!
I'll be sure to keep you informed through out the week. Notice, this whole chicken has to last me all week along with this single box of cereal. I have no clue what I'm going do for dinner. Maybe a few grapes and some water?!?!
